Aitor Arregi, born in Getaria in 1971, is the chef and owner of Restaurante Elkano, the renowned seafood grill restaurant founded by his father Pedro Arregi in 1964 in Getaria, Basque Country. After a decade as a professional footballer, he returned to Elkano in 2002, taking full leadership following his father's death in 2014, the same year the restaurant earned its first Michelin star. Under his guidance, Elkano has become a global destination for grilled fish, featuring signature dishes like grilled turbot with its 'five cuts' and hake kokotxas, and has ranked #16 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
