Alex Atala is a Brazilian chef born in São Paulo in 1968, who founded the restaurant D.O.M. in 1999, renowned for elevating Amazonian ingredients using French and Italian techniques. D.O.M. received two Michelin stars in the 2015 Michelin Guide Brazil, ranked 4th in the World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2012, and 6th in 2013.
