Axel Heinz

Axel Heinz, born in Germany and raised in France, studied agronomy with a specialization in viticulture and enology at the University of Bordeaux before starting his career at wineries like Château La Tour Carnet in Bordeaux and later in Saint-Émilion. He joined Ornellaia as winemaker in 2005, becoming estate director in 2015, overseeing both Ornellaia and Masseto in Bolgheri, Tuscany, where he expanded the portfolio with white wines and elevated their status in the Liv-ex Power 100. In 2023, he left after 18 years to become Director and CEO of Château Lascombes in Margaux, Bordeaux.
