Emidio Pepe

Emidio Pepe is an Italian winemaker born into a family producing wine since 1889 in Abruzzo, who founded his namesake winery in 1964 near Teramo, pioneering the bottling of high-quality Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from organic vineyards. He revolutionized Abruzzo wines by proving their aging potential, using traditional artisanal methods like foot-crushing grapes and avoiding chemicals or modern machinery. Now in his 90s, he remains involved offering wisdom, while his granddaughters Sofia and Chiara manage cellar and vineyard operations.
