i. Biography
Eric Ripert is the Executive Chef and co-owner of Le Bernardin in New York City, a seafood restaurant that has held three Michelin stars since 2005 and received four stars from The New York Times in 1995 under his leadership. Born in Antibes, France, in 1965, he trained at the École Hôtelière de Perpignan before working at La Tour d'Argent and Jamin under Joël Robuchon in Paris, then moved to the U.S. in 1989 as sous-chef at Jean Louis at the Watergate Hotel. He joined Le Bernardin as chef in 1991 and became executive chef and co-owner in 1994 following Gilbert Le Coze's death; in 2014, he and Maguy Le Coze opened Aldo Sohm Wine Bar.
