Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, born in 1966 in Reims, Champagne, studied viticulture and oenology at Montpellier’s École Nationale Supérieure Agronomique, graduating as valedictorian before joining Louis Roederer in 1989. Recruited directly by Jean-Claude Rouzaud, he trained at Roederer Estate in California and became the youngest chef de cave in Champagne in 1999, also serving as Executive Vice-President overseeing production across Roederer properties worldwide. He pioneered biodynamic viticulture at Roederer, transforming farming practices for wines like Cristal, emphasizing vineyard management and single-parcel winemaking.
