i. Biography
Patrick Kriss is the chef and owner of Alo Food Group in Toronto, which includes the Michelin-starred restaurant Alo opened in 2015, the bistro Aloette, Alobar Yorkville, Alobar Downtown, Salon, Aloette GO, and Alder at Ace Hotel Toronto. Born in Scarborough, Canada, he trained at George Brown College, worked at Auberge du Pommier, Daniel in New York under Daniel Boulud, and staged at three-Michelin-starred La Maison Troisgros and Régis et Jacques Marcon in France. Alo and Alobar Yorkville each received one Michelin star in 2022, making him the only Toronto chef with stars at two restaurants that year, and he was named Canada's Outstanding Chef in 2019.
