Peter Gago, born 25 April 1957 in the UK, is the Chief Winemaker at Penfolds in South Australia since 2002, succeeding John Duval as only the fourth person to hold the role since Max Schubert created Grange in 1948. He joined Penfolds in 1989 as Sparkling Winemaker, transitioned to red wines in 1993, and became Penfolds Red Wine Oenologist before his promotion. Gago graduated as dux of the Oenology program at Roseworthy College in Adelaide and has overseen multiple 100-point rated releases of Grange and innovative multi-country blends.
