Pierre Gagnaire, born April 9, 1950, in Apinac, France, is a chef who began his career in Saint-Étienne, earning three Michelin stars at his restaurant there before financial difficulties led him to relocate to Paris in 1996, where Pierre Gagnaire on Rue Balzac has held three Michelin stars since 1998. He oversees a global portfolio of 15 restaurants accumulating 13 Michelin stars as of 2024, including locations in London (Sketch), Tokyo, Dubai, and Bordeaux (La Grande Maison Bernard Magrez with two stars). Named the world's best chef by peers in 2015, his innovative cuisine features flavor juxtapositions, textures, and molecular techniques.
