i. Biography
René Frank is a German pastry chef born in 1984 in Wangen im Allgäu, who opened CODA, Germany's first dessert restaurant, in Berlin-Neukölln in 2016 as co-owner and head chef with Oliver Bischoff. CODA received its first Michelin star in 2019 and a second in 2020, and was ranked no. 62 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2024. He has been named Pastry Chef of the Year multiple times (2013, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2022) by Gault&Millau and others, and won World's Best Pastry Chef in 2022.
