Sat Bains is the chef proprietor of the two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms in Nottingham, England, which he opened in 2002 after winning the Roux Scholarship in 1999 and staging at the three-Michelin-starred Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier, France. Born on 28 February 1971 in Derby to Punjabi parents, he earned the restaurant's first Michelin star in 2003—the first for any Nottingham restaurant—and a second in 2011 or 2012, along with five AA Rosettes and a top ranking on the Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants list in 2015. His 2012 book *Too Many Chiefs, Only One Indian* won eight international awards, including Best Designed Cookbook from the IACP.
